Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon

Sunday and all was boring on the western front... A zillion guys cruising the peninsula and really not much to surf. Unless you wanted to be dropped in on by the geriatric shoulder hoppers on their 8 foot barges of course. Sounds pretty dull huh?

Only so until I made the final turn past Kalk Bay. Not much of a wave there either except for the few guys drifting around at OTW in front of the Bell waiting to pounce - 'Crouching Tiger' stylie! With just enough time I got set up at the end of the tidal pool for a ringside seat of some spectacular and hilarious action. Amongst them was Jayden and his buddy Gareth who were having a blast while getting blasted!

These guys and handful of other locals were setting up for some of the most explosive backwash ramps I have seen around town and they had the afternoon drinkers at the Bell spellbound with "Oooooo's" and "Aaaahhhhs" ringing out over the live band.

It was just so refreshing to check guys out there for the pure fun of it... sometimes taking off three abreast on the same wave and smacking the backwash in simultaneous air-reverse, invert and a face-plants combined with the grand finalé -air-walk into the flats! Props to the guys who gave all present some awesome entertainment and put the CRAZY-FUN back into the word 'bodyboarding'.
