First of all I apologize… unfortunately some one, lets call him Mark Fordham for arguments sake, beat me to the punch. I was hoping to be the first to publish the results of the Shark Island challenge, but obviously that wasn’t to be. Thanks Mark ( Jokes bro). However, we will still be sharing with you our rendition of what went down that day, and it goes a little something like this………..

Rocking up late we were lucky to catch the last few minutes of the semi’s, it must have been about a solid 4-6 foot ( That’s Shark Island 4-6...) with a slight on shore. With darkness falling fast and a massive rain cloud seconds away from bursting the final four took up their positions and anxiously awaited the horn. The boys did the best they could in the conditions at hand, with Hardy scoring a sick pit and some major airtime the battle began. John Showell coming back with one of the biggest tweaked inverts I’ve ever seen and pulling into some death pits. Things were starting to heat up, this wasn’t going to be easy. Hubb was ripping it up, just busting out crazy styles…. With Kingy scoring some insane rides too. As the final horn blew every one scattered for cover as the rain was now coming down in buckets. With a quick shower and meal we headed down to the local 2230 club for the prize giving. With a few beers down and the likes of Stewart, Hardy, King, Rawlins, Nugget, Showell, Hubb and his brother around ………… well you can just imagine how many photo’s were being taken. The winner’s were finally announced with Hardy 1st , Showell 2nd, Kingy 3rd and Hubb 4th . Showell won the charger award whilst Hardy won the best barrel award. The celebrations continued late that night with one nasty surprise awaiting us all the next morning……….. Hang over!

Late Saturday afternoon I received a text/sms from Attie stating three simple words, “Shark Island, Now!”. Jumping in my suit I raced down to the Island. Seeing Attie and Riaan in the line up while paddling out was like watching two kids let loose in a candy store…. ….Riaan had adapted quickly to the Islands’ conditions taking some death drops and scoring insane barrels. Attie on the other hand didn’t seemed fazed in the least. Let me put things in perspective for you ……Attie comes from the West coast of South Africa and surfs a break called Tante ( Tooth) , this wave however is probably two maybe even three times heavier than the Island……… get the picture.
And for those of you who haven’t had the opportunity to surf the Island yet …. Let me just say that photo’s don’t do her justice. This is a wave of consequence………. If you were to mount a camera on the head of a rider then maybe you’ll start to see the picture…… you are literally riding on rock and below sea level …… NO F****** JOKES!
A word to the wise, if you do find yourself out there any time soon. The grommets will try snake the shit out of you, but more importantly you might notice a group of guys just chilling there, one has a white Gath helmet on. His name is Wozza and the guys sitting with him are all Island locals……. These guys have earned their respect and have full choice over all the waves………. don’t piss them off! Don’t get me wrong they’re super cool and friendly, but you must remember these guys don’t demand respect…they’ve earned it and deserve it. Respect guys… Respect!

That’s about all for now…O yes I promised you some extra pic’s. Reason being the internet connections a lot faster for uploading in Australia then in Bali……so here they are, enjoy. Spot you all later, Kruger.

P.S. please forgive me if some of the photo’s have been run before, but in my old age I tend to forget a lot.

And one last thing… Unfortunately we have run it to a bit of bad luck. Lisa has recently upgraded her camera and in doing so had to sell her old one. Turns out the B**** Who bought it of her on e-bay used a stolen credit card, so now not only has she lost the camera and the money, but more importantly she has no money to buy the new lens! And were not talking small potatoes here, she’s lost £ 550.00 ( R6000.00) cause of e-bay. If any of you out there are feeling generous and have a bit of cash lying around …well by all means we accept donations!!!!! Thanks guy’s.
