Had a chill out session in St Ives, over in England. I then headed off to France. I met up with surf journalist and explorer Stuart Butler. (To plan our surf exploration out to Yemen) We have had one or two rather average surfs in the area of such famous breaks as Hossegor and Biarritz but I was starting to think that France was bit of a hoax after hearing such great stories of how good the beach breaks are around here. Comparing them to even the notorious beach breaks of D’Bah, North Beach and Puerto Escondido. Then the first swell arrived for the summer. Good times, and now I see why that comparison was made. We found a sick left and right wedge on the northern beaches of Hossegor. The biggest left ramps with the right offering barrels to oncoming sections. Came so close to the DK roll a few times.
One thing, if you are thinking of coming to France get ready to paddle your ass off, like Puerto paddle outs. The currents run wild there. Reward for your the heavy paddle outs are all the naked people on the beaches though. Its nuts no towel changing here just girls and guys stripping off and then pulling their swim suits, wetties or nothing on, soooooooooo funny. We have also headed over to Spain but did not score Mundaka due to no swell will have to come back some year. Really beautiful country though.
Well next time you hear from me I will be in Yemen so please pray for us - going to be nuts down in the Arab home lands. This could very well be the last ODB WORLD TOUR update ever. So I would like to thank and send my love to everyone along the way that made it possible.
