| Hoek goes off this time of year - right? Hoek gets pretty crowded - right? Here is my reason for not posting the location. Now those are some pretty sick waves, which i am sure will get plenty of people amped. If i take shots of a spot i usually hold back on posting them. Not because i keep them for the mag, but because i prefer to let the locals reap the rewards of good banks while they are there and not to inform the entire sixty40 audience of the fact that the spot is cooooooking. Sorry guys. A few months down the line i will edited the shots and include the name. Besides that... Someone else posted shots from the same day and left them unnamed so i thought that i would follow suit. Only a couple of guys were there that day, so the location was pretty much hidden and could have been anywhere - the only thing that gave it away 100% was Cameron cos he's a local at Hoek. If you can "Spot the Spot" then so be it, well done, but keep it to yourself and go have a look when you think that conditions are looking good... You have an issue with guys naming a spot that is quite clearly visible from a particular parking area, and NO, I wasn't shown...i saw it, but yet you have a problem with me posting photos of a wave and leaving it unnamed. Come on dude... Yes i know that Hoek isn't a secret, but i'd rather not build up too much hype around it - i will leave that to the other posters. Just in the same way that if i surf somewhere and know the banks are cooking i don't post named shots or even tell many people - because i am selfish and want to surf it alone with my mates. But when the banks go pear-shaped i will post the shots and leave them unnamed for a while. Come on bud - where's the love - you should know why some spots go unnamed. | |

| I say again, because of all the attitude on sixty40 about the unearthing of secret spots and then the old school spots like hoek and long beach suddenly being deemed secret????? lets for the sake of argument, remove all spot names, spot descriptions and well everything else, even the spot search, maybe just a vauge description as to what region of SA the wave is... Wes Kus, East Kus, South Kus. Cos when Hoek gets labled secret, we might aswell do the same for Kalk bay, koeel bay, north beach and Pipeline. | |
