After much deliberation, organisers of The Box Pro being held near Margaret River, West Australia have called off competition for Day 2, Friday April 15.

Conditions are flawless in the region, with many nearby breaks pumping with great waves, but the inconsistency of set waves at The Box has left organisers with no option but to postpone the commencement of Round 1 heats until tomorrow.

"We arrived at first light this morning and have been monitoring sets for around three hours. The swell is forecast to pick up, and it has shown glimpses already, but it is just too inconsistent to run four man heats, even if we extend the duration," explained IBA Tour Manager Terry McKenna.

It didn’t stop around ten riders hitting the infamous reef for a practice session, including Jared Houston (ZAF), Mark McCarthy (ZAF), Jeff Hubbard (Haw) and Andrew Lester (Cronulla, NSW, AUS).

Organisers will make the next call on proceedings at 07:00 local time.

The $30,000 IBA Box Pro is the second of eight events on the 2011 Men’s Grand Slam Series tour and just two full days of competition are required to find a winner.

All the action from The Box Pro will be available for viewing live at www.redbull.tv. Alternatively fans can watch it online at via www.ibaworldtour.com. Australian viewers can also tune into FUEL TV - check local guides for times.
