Wild Wild Wave El Fronton Invitational
International Bodyboard Association Sanctioned
Canary Islands, Atlantic Ocean
Waiting Period: Sunday December 12 to Tuesday December 21

Thursday December 16 2010 Gran Canary Island: If you think you're getting antsy for the competition to begin... the competitors are beginning to pace back and forth in urgency. They all know that the day of battle is coming soon but not soon enough. So filling in the free time before the comp is getting tough. They can only play so much Padel (a combination of tennis, raquetball, squash). They can only ride El Fronton at two to three without getting anxious for the big day. And there really is only so many times we can watch Damien King's new sick podcast before saying enough. Yes... the boys are getting just as antsy as you.

Today, Damien 'Kingy' King and Ryan 'Hardballs' Hardy got in front of the camera for the daily Red Bull video update. They talk about being ready and enjoy some of the down time.

Kingy mentions the awesome BBQ that the locals put together yesterday and he also said that, "it's like a semi-family competitive vibe and we're doing things together but I think as soon as that hooter sounds it's going to be pretty fierce out there."

We may have to agree with Kingy on this one. Most of the competitors here are among the top rank players on the IBA World Tour.

Hardy is also enjoying some downtime and says that, "the best thing about the Canary Islands is the weather. You can pretty much hang out all day in shorts and surf in a spring suit or long sleeve spring. Its comfortable all day."

Hardy steps back and restates, "actually the best thing about the Canary Islands is that it's a bodyboarding island. Period."

Everyone our correspondent has talked to agree. This island is bodyboard country.

The waiting game continues but the swell is approaching and the comp is near. Set your alarms people. You don't want to miss any of the LIVE action come game day. Please remember, the Canary Islands is on the GMT time zone. So adjust accordingly.
