Kumba Iron Ore brings stoke to development riders at West Coast Classic

posted on 8th August 2010

It had been 11 months since we had seen the super amped smiling faces from the SA champs Kumba Iron Ore development clinic.

This year's Kumba Iron Ore development clinic was held in conjunction with the first of its kind SABA Reef West Coast Classic.

This Clinic was not only a just a standard clinic but was a competition for all the development riders that were in attendance.

The riders were divided into 4 groups of four as quarter final heats. The top 2 riders from each heat would progress to a semi final, then to the final.

Surfing their way into the final was Charlon Don, Michael Dippenaar, Lee Hanco Visagie and the only girl to reach the final, Karla Birkholtz.

After the Final, Charlon walked away the West Coast Classic Development Champion.

Reef Wetsuits SA and Kumba Iron Ore Brought huge smile on the faces of 5 of the development riders when they surprised Lee-Hanco Visagie, Le-Roy Morris, Lauwrence Boois, Jaques Scholtz and Karla Birkholts with a full kit of bodyboarding goods. Each rider received a bodyboard, wetsuit, fins and foot booties. They will be keeping the bodyboarding stoke high in the Lamberts bay area and pushing others to join the sport that we love so much.
