Australian Dave Winchester was crowned champion of the Arica Chilean Challenge 2010 on Sunday. With a sensational performance Dave beat Amaury Laverhne, capturing his first victory on IBA World Tour. With a perfect 10 and 9.75, Dave was almost unbeatable, scoring 19.75 points out of possible 20 and picking up 2000 points on IBA World Ranking in the process.

Final day conditions were perfect with 6-8 feet waves. In the last heat of ACC 2010 Dave showed all of his style & power. On his second wave, Dave did a huge aerial reverse that earned him 9.75 of the judges, leaving Amaury in combination situation. However, the best was yet to come.

A few minutes from the end, the Australian got a nice right, smashed off a massive air rollo and completed the perfect wave.

"Last year I was third and I want to win here. This is my first victory on tour and this is very special. I was competing like it was a free surf. I missed the first event in Pipeline, which was also a Grand Slam, so now I'll have to run to enter in title race", said Winchester.

In second place Amaury Lavehrne received 1720 points and still in first position on IBA World Ranking. This was Amaury´s second final in a Grand Slam event in 2010.

"I'm very happy. This was my best result in Arica and I’m happy to still be in first place. What Dave did in the final was incredible, I could not react. I am happy and now I ready to go to Peru, "said Amaury referring to next World Tour event.

"This was one of the best events in history. The level was very high, with great waves and a structure that deserves the status of a Grand Slam. Arica is an example to all events. The competitors showed a very high level ", said Chico Garritano, IBA Head Judge.

This week the IBA World Tour goes to Peru, where between May 26th-30th the second edition of Peruvian Inka Challenge will take place. The event will be the fifth stop on the Men's world tour and will offer 1000 points on IBA World Ranking
