2010 Sport Unlimited Cape Classic presented by Ocean Minded

The 2010 Sport Unlimited Cape Classic presented by Ocean Minded is going to be held over the 20th -22nd March 2010. It is going to be the first bodyboarding event of its kind and once again we will be making use of the "roaming venue" so we can make sure we get the most competitive waves for the riders.

As you know our oceans are in danger of being over fished and pollution is reaching unprecedented levels. We have decided to go with hosting the WORLD's first ever "Green" Bodyboarding event. The idea around this year's event is to raise awareness and funds for the Save Our Seas Foundation and leave the beach as if we had never been there in the first place. Marine conservation awareness is something that we all need to be a part of. It is up to us to give back to the ocean what she gives to us on an almost daily basis. It is just too simple to expect someone to pick up your mess after you leave. The ocean just does not have the strength to cope anymore and if we keep turning a blind eye and simply keep discussing the issue, nothing will ever happen. THE TIME TO ACT IS NOW. It is up to each and every one of us to do something for our wonderful oceans, after all you expect her to dish you up perfect waves all the time.

The Cape Classic is Cape Town's premier bodyboarding event and this year will be no different with the likes of one of South Africa's premier bodyboarders, Mark McCarthy, attending. Rumour has it he has been hard at training and intends to blow the competition away this year.
