Sixty40 Flow Pro #2: Tennant bags Singapore trip with win #2

posted on 8th June 2009

The Sixty40 Flow Pro Event #2 in Association with Wave House, Nomad Bodyboards, Factory 7 & Limited Edition Swim Fins kicked off on Saturday, June 6th with a bang. We had the International Pro's here at the Wave House, which featured Nomad International team riders - Chris James, Glen Thurston, Sacha Specker and International Custom X Team rider - Adam Luehman. The much anticipated event kicked off with the Amateur divisions with guys going big. Standouts were Sacha Specker, Robbie Waites, Glen Thurston and Adam Waites. The guys were going all out for the camera's and the crowd. Nomad team riders Glen Thurston & Sacha Specker were throwing down some huge inverts and rolls, followed by Ratt doing some huge inverts, but in the end it was Michael "Rat" Ostler who claimed top honours, followed by Robbie, Adam & Spex. The Boys final was great to see, and with some awesome newbies on the scene it was good for the sport with the guys showing some guts to battle it out on the D-Rex but in the end it was Robbie Waites claiming the top spot, followed by Margate boys champ - Stephen Du Preez, Jared Visick & Alex Chang.

The Dropknee event was awesome and with guys like Factory 7 team rider - Sean Tickner, Wesley Fischer, Billy Tennant & Sascha "ST" Taljaard. The guys were going big, throwing some huge slashing turns with gauging shots of water being thrown and camera men getting wet, it was a awesome showcase of how guys can use the knee and throw there tricks down on the fabled D-Rex. Wesley Fischer's form was just too good and no one could come close to him, Wez won every heat he was in and won the final with a massive score of 19 out of a possible 20. Billy finished second followed by Brandon Herbst in 3rd & Sean Tickner in 4th.

The much anticipated Pro final was next in the water and this division was nuts. Jonathan "Oros" Oliff launched a huge el' rollo on his first wave of his semi-final heat and snapped his board in half, Oros then got another board and started to rip it up.. Wesley Fischer and Stephen Janssens were just boosting to hard for oros to catchup and eventually knocked him out. Billy Tennant and Michael Ostler busted out in their semi-final and were just too far ahead for Brandon Herbst & Jake Rosenburg to catchup to.

In the end the Pro Finals were ready with IBA world tour campaigner - Wesley Fischer, Former flowtour world #2 - Billy Tennant, Michael "Ratt" Ostler & Stephen Janssens. The Pro final started with a huge standing ovation with Ratt busting a huge run-in air reverse and after that he dominated his heat, up until Wez & Billy got into it..

Billy with his huge tricks and Wez going big, with smooth fluid styles were definitely on form. Stephen was killing it and throwing some huge backflips but was just unable to stick them. If he had stuck them, the results could have been a very different outcome.

When the dust had settled and with everyone going all out for the win it was once again Billy Tennant who came out with the victory, followed by Wesley in second, Ratt & Stephen finishing 3rd and 4th respectfully.

Billy Tennant has won the overall Sixty40 Flow Pro tour title and has won himself a the trip of a lifetime and the chance to Represent Team South Africa at the World Flowboarding Games in Singapore in October this year.

The Expression session named "who got the shot!" heat hit the water last with a 20-minute time frame. The guys had to throw the biggest trick possible to win. The finalists were Adam Waites, Michael Ostler, Stephen Janssens & Wesley Fischer.

The heat was intense and with our judges - Adam Luehman, Chris James & Glen Thurston in charge of who can throw the most hectic trick, they had a lot on their hands to decide who would win the best trick of the event. These guys were throwing gnarly inverts, flips, air revo's... But in the end it was Wesley Fischer claiming the "Who got the shot!" title with a massive Air Forward, Michael "Ratt" Ostler in second with a massive Air Reverse & Stephen Janssens in third with a Invert.

Congratulations to all the riders involved and look forward to seeing you all at the next event.
