Christopher Elliott "Mothers Pride" trophy - Go Big and Reap Rewards!

posted by Gareth White on 28th August 2008

Chris ElliottIn celebration of Christopher "Chrizzle" Elliott's life his Mother, Jacquie Jorgensen, has decided to donate an award for the most stylish Chrizzle like invert of the year.

"I would like to recognize a rider who demonstrates guts, passion, showmanship, magic and mostly love. Chris really spread the Love - not only of the sport he was most passionate about, but in all areas of life. He loved himself (I mean that in the "healthiest" sense) and he "loved his work" - a simple lesson in how to live life successfully. That was his message on this earth, that is the memory and message I would like to keep alive through the award", Jorgensen commented.

The Christopher Elliott "Mothers Pride" trophy will be awarded at SA Champs, which is being held in Richards Bay, 28 September to 3 October, by Chrizzle's Father, Guy Elliott in Jacquie's absence.

The trophy is being carved out of rock from one of Chrizzle's favourite beaches, Llandudno, and will boast a silver figurine launching an invert off the rock, which doubles as a wave. Apart from the trophy, both the rider and the photographer will each receive a framed enlargement of the winning photo stating the name and year of the award for keepsakes.

Chrizzle will always be remembered for his all out passion, his loveable nature, his showman like personality, his sharp wit and amongst us bodyboarders he will also be remembered as a bright star of South African bodyboarding.

Chrizzle had the ability to impress us all, whether it was his presence in the water or on land, his incredibly approachable nature, always polite manner or his jokes that left us all in stitches. He was a magician able to cast the spell of life over all he met.

"I want to feel the magic, the humour and the Love in that captured moment. From when he was a baby he had the ability to make me laugh and cry at the same time. His inverts were a continuation of a showmanship developed from the time he could walk and talk and they constantly delighted me. This is a challenge to all riders to access their inner magicians!" Jorgenson added.
