Science Team Update: Shark Island Challenge 2007

posted by Mike Stewart on 21st June 2007

Science Team rider Mark McCarthy advanced on to the next round taking out Mitch Rawlins in the process. Mark came in behind an in rhythm Damien King. Mark was busting some of the biggest moves in the heaviest sections of the event so far. With better wave selection he could be unbeatable.

As the waves dropped and the wind swung onshore Thomas Robinson, couldn’t finish a good start and got knocked out.

In dropping swell and average conditions I frantically caught what waves I could and unleashed some old school law on the youngens. Taking out Toby Player 2nd and Aussie tour leader Andrew Lester 3rd.

Well that's the latest from the island event in freezing cold Cronulla point. Event is on hold for tomorrow but will most probably not run for awhile now.
