Blowout Club Contest: Air-Roll-Spin to Win?

Blowout held their latest club contest at Margate last Sunday, however, as expected many members had to miss the contest due to school exams. This, however, gave those that did compete a chance to improve their ratings. Margate produced a good inside bowl and the stage was set for some spectacular riding.
After the first two Pro heats it was clear that it was going to be a tough battle, as in those two heats, just about every competitor busted an ARS or Backflip. With the rest of the competitors watching to see how the Pro riders were using their experience to generate speed off the small inside and bust big moves, they went out into their heats and carried on with the standard, set by the Pro riders.
The day ended early due to the few numbers of entrants, but not without some excitement to blow away the spectators minds in the Pro Final. A Final that could possibly go into the record books between Wayne Beekman, David Lee, Grant Lee and Derek Footit; they managed to rack up a tally of 12 ARS’s completed and a further 6 attempts at ARS’s during that heat with scores all above the mid 50’s mark. A magnificent spectacle, in good but small waves.
Well done to all those who competed and a big thanks to the totalisers, judges and parents.
