MOB Spring Classic 2004

posted by Michael Meyer on 12th October 2004

The contest was held at Innerpool, because of a big swell. Outerpool was in the 6-8ft range and still surfable, but the heats would of been at least 40min long, because the paddle would of been pretty hard.

Even though Innerpool is more of a DK wave, the prone riders still managed to rack up some good scores. The newly crowned South African Boys division champ, Adam Morley, dominated the Pro final from the start, and took a comfortable win. Bjorn Coetzee came in second, Wesley Holm came third. Johan Nortje who finished fourth, impressed everyone in the earlier rounds with some excellent riding.

Gerrit Hurter took the DK win, with excellent carves and snaps. Michael Meyer took second spot, Jordaan van der Merwe came third and Emile Maree was palced fourth.

The development riders, who also competed in the Pro division, impressed with some good riding. Juan du Plessis came first ahead of current Southern Cape development champ Rudi Second. Nico Smit and Wikus Ellis came 3rd & 4th respectively.
