MOB Winter Classic 2004

posted by Michael Meyer on 14th August 2004

The 5th MOB contest of 2004 took place on Sunday, the 8th of August 2004 at Outerpool. There was a good swell running, but a strong north-westerly wind made the waves faces extremely choppy.

Most of the dropknee riders struggled in the choppy conditions. Adam Morley took the title with good waves selection and some nice floaters. Joseph Robinson took second place.

There was a good contest between Adam and Wesley Holm, but was Adam who used his contest experience to take the title. Wesley ended second. Emile Maree managed a third place and Johan Nortje took the fourth spot.

The Development division was held on Wednesday (11 Aug) afternoon at De Bakke beach break. A big easterly swell was running and this meant some heavy beach break waves. There 8 develoment entries, the most this whole year. All the riders impressed. The final was a close one, Luan Wessels and Jordaan vd Merwe both busted some big rolls. They ended tied for first place, but when the tie was broken it was Luan who took title.
