West Beach Warfare 2014

posted by Iain Campbell on 14th June 2014

Port Alfred's, West Beach Warfare is a go for the 2nd consecutive year and is the last stop on this years SABA Tour. This year plans to be better and bigger than last year with masses of work being done by the Eastern Province committee. This year will be a 2A rated event with sponsorship being provided by Rossi, Multi Security, Havanas Night Club, Red Bull, Nutritech, VZ, Dakine and Maniac.

Contest organizer, Jot De Lauwere , expressed that, "The banks are really good at the moment. The beach has flattened out a lot shifting the sand out and making the wave a lot hollower than it usually already is!"

"Standouts that are to watch out for are obviously the local lads - DVT in Pro. Clinton Millard, Ryan Botha, De Waal Spies in Mens. Peter Nel and Jay Lodge in Matsers and Pierre de Villiers in Grandmasters. All these guys have been surfing the wedge pretty well of late! Unfortunately another hopeful from EP James Jones will be missing it due to him getting married over that weekend. We wish Jamo and Caitlyn all love, Joy and happiness!"

"Then there's obviously the visitors from various province's who are gonna be tough on the day! Iain Campbell, Sampi Kamffer, Tristan Roberts, Nik Martin as well as last years winner Michael Ostler, that surf a wedge really well!"

"There's been an abundance of North Westerly winds blowing and I'm pretty sure this trend will carry on as per usual through July making it pretty fun and contestable. We (EP) are looking forward to having all the boogers in town for some fun times and good waves! Two left wedge comps just a days apart! Gonna be siiiiiick!"

With only one month to go we will be looking forward to another title race and some good times on the beach as per usual.
