Cape Classic 2013 - Report Back & Results

The Cape Classic finished yesterday after 3 days that really tested the competitors' mettle.
After a brilliant start on Friday at the Hoek, where the boys and juniors where whittled down to final's with standout performances across the board. The Western Province Development division also ran on Friday with great improvement in riding from all the guys. Our aim is to create a feeder system into the standard division's in year's to come.
Day 2 and the competition moved to Yzerfontein and the waves were very good. Unfortunately there was a fog bank that made the judging very tricky with delays in heat's and some very chilly competitor's. Standout performer of the day was South Coast's Wesley Coetzee, with his Junior final already in the bag he went on to topple some of the sport's top names in the pro division.
Due to the fog we were unable to run as many heats as we had hoped which left a very stacked final day. The call was made for the more centralised venue of Big Bay where competition got underway at seven thirty sharp.
In the contestable conditions the competitors battled it out with some stand out performances. A huge congratulations to all the winner's, in particular Tristan Roberts in the Junior Division and Stephen Du Preez in the Pro. Both of these gents have moved up to these divisions this year so to get a win in their first year bodes well for their future.
