Concept: Let's Boogie!
The main theme behind the advert and the contest had to be around "bad eyesight", so Colin came up with a concept of a "Holiday Maker", "Vaalie" - Sarel Venter acted out by Martin Otto - who rocks up at the beach with his gear to go Boogieboarding!

Due to his bad eyesight he is unable to read the relevant signage and ignores the warning from the local lifeguard, played out by Ryan Enslin. Chaos ensues as Sarel paddles out screaming into the hazardous surf conditions and realises it is too late to turn back. Here Colin painstakingly superimposed him into one of the shots from Waimea Shorebreak of Joshua Kleve.

Inspiration
Colin came up with the idea for this advert from a personal experience whilst bodyboarding at Keiki Shorebreak a few years ago with Oros, Tickner, Charles Pass, Specker, Kleevage and Ryan Hardy. "That moment was probably one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life! A huge American tourist came down to Keiki shorebreak for a swim. It looked like a spectacular day, beautiful water, sunshine, and at the time of the incident a very, very flat ocean. He failed to read the relevant signage and still went into the water.

A HUGE set came through which all of us actually went over and at the same time looked back to the beach to see what was going to happen. This wave plowed 100% into the tourist - rolling him all the way up the sandbank like a ragdoll. Which made everyone in the lineup and on the beach burst out with laughter. The American appeared OK, got up and started moaning on the beach about how he never expected that to happen."

What is Spread your Viral
Spread your Viral is an exciting competition recently launched by Spec-Savers. Entrants have created a viral TV commercial for Spec-Savers which is intended to go Viral over the internet. The angle is focussed on the importance of sight by provoking emotion.

Entrants were encouraged to use their creative genius to make us all laugh, smile or cry. The importance of sight is the drive behind the message, whilst focus needed to be placed on why Spec-Savers is the No 1 destination for affordable visual eye care in the South Africa. Entrants stand a chance to win a whopping R30 000 and R20 000 for their academic institution.

Vote and you can stand a chance to be one of 3 lucky winners of a R1000 Spec-Savers Coupon to spend on any product or service!
