A quick Q&A with Mexico highlights star, Jared Houston.
1) How Long were you in Mex for?
I guess 3 weeks exactly! Although a week of that was spent crossing Mexico by bus and doing the tourist thing! Good times for sure.
2)In the time that you were there how often did you surf?
Everyday, tres veces por dÃa. haha, it was crazy man, not one day under 4ft. Mexico is such a sick place.
3)What was the biggest ridable day you had?
Hmm, I hate to be the one making the calls, but i'd say Greg Long caught the biggest wave I've ever seen in the flesh on one such day and it was bigger than 15ft. So let's say there were 2 days in the 15ft range. NOT COOL.
4)What was the scariest situation you found yourself in?
Finding myself in a sandy ocean with nile sized rips everywhere, rubbing shoulders with the big wave elite of world surfing, all donning high impact life vests and 10ft boards. I was wearing shorts and riding a 3ft piece of foam. Undergunned? A little silly really. I did not enjoy that experience!
5)What was the highlight of the trip?
Probably just the good times and the one day it was raining but the surf was pumping like 6-8ft with no one out. I surfed for an hour alone and got one of the best pits of my life!
