Crossing the Divide

2nd September 2010

So Sintra is over and as Boetie has already written Amaury is the 2010 IBA world Champion. Just getting to be there when he won was the most electrifying thing I have ever experienced and as Ben and I carried him up the beach I couldn't help but fight back tears.

Seeing someone so committed reach their goals is always going to be inspiring but I didnt realise it would hit so close to home.Seeing Amaury win really stirred up something inside myself that I had never felt so strongly, a burning fire to succeed.I want to experience that extreme jubilation I witnessed on Sunday afternoon, and Im not gonna stop before I do.

Portugal was a pretty amazing experience and one that I will never forget. As if staying in the same room as my lifelong heroes and getting to cruise with all the boys wasnt enough, the family we stayed with showed us the best time, cooking us insane meals and coming down the beach everyday to show their support. Can't wait to catch up with them again next year. I might just even miss a certain girl when I leave ...

The crew of Bodyboarders from all over the world have by now all converged on the small coastal Spanish town of Ferrol for the last stop on this european leg of the tour. With the world title all wrapped up, I think everyone is feeling alot more relaxed, but at the same time more amped than ever to show what they can do so this comp could just be pretty mindblowing, especially with the rampy 3-4ft peaks predicted.

At this event I'm bunking up with Jarrod Gibso, Kingy, Romero, DUBB and Amaury so still plenty of fun happening and I'll write another blog post before I leave.

Thanks for all the love on Facebook, I have attached a photo of what I scored at home the whole week before I left to keep you all moist. It was pretty amazing!
