Turbo Pipeline Pro Updates

Amaury is the Turbo Pipe Pro Champ; Jerry gets 3rd
1 Amaury Laverhe REU 17.50
2 Diego Cabrera CNY 14.65
3 Jared Houston SAF 14.20
4 Damian King AUS 10.75

From the first horn it has been the Amaury Laverhne show - he's been on fire in the lead up and he's won the title in style --- going big and without doubt the best rider in the contest. Saving some of his best for last, he carded a perfect 10 points with a Pipe tube which he exited with a big backflip.

King was out of sorts while Diego was surfing consistently. Jerry started late - launching a huge invert at backdoor, landing in the flats and not quite making it and carded a 6.2 for the efforts. He followed it up with a deep Pipe tube ride for 8.0.

He's been dubbed the new kid in town and he lived up to the hype today. Well done Jerry! Proud of you.

The prize purse is split as follows 1st - $5000, 2nd - $3100, 3rd - $2000, 4th - $1500

Jerry makes a late charge with a big invert at backdoor to knock Hubb out. Unfortunately the only wave of note which McCarthy bagged was a huge late take off which gets the water patrol interested. The wind has turned on and wave choice is becoming a bit tricky.

Ratt injury forces him to withdraw
Michael "Ratt" Ostler gets a 10 footer on his head as he is paddling out for his heat. Ripped his leash off and hurt his arm real bad - bad enough to have to withdraw.

DK Final
No results as of yet. Will have to wait for the release. Dubb looks like he got it but Alvarez had a sick Backdoor tube which scored 8 for. Spex, Kim Feast and Bud Miyamoto all got some good ones so it will be interesting to see what the judges made of it. We'll post results in the morning.

1 Sacha Specker (SAF)

Specker's waves:
#1 Pipe - stylish mid roll stall
#2 Pipe - super clean ARS
#3 Pipe - close out ARS
#4 Backdoor - huge invert
#5 Pipe - Roll, carve into forward spin in the pocket.

Totally dominated and gets huge respect from the commentator.

Round 6: Heat 3
1 Bud Miyamoto (HAW)

Charles Pass and Stephen Stamm go head to head in a hectic paddle battle. Pass is on the inside to go right, Stamm is on the inside to go left. Both don't give way and colide moments before the heavy Pipe bomb unload on their heads. Pass gets the interference as it was "more of a Pipe wave" is the word from the judges.

Round 5: Heat 8 - Spex owns this one
Spex makes sure of this one. Starting off early with a small Backdoor wave which he inverts then picks off a couple good Pipe waves and gets some good tube rides, small little reverse floater on his first.

2 Willy Petrovic (HAW)

Round 5: Heat 7 - Ratt bags it
Michael "Ratt" Ostler seeded through to this round bags his heat with some good tube riding. Unfortunate not to make it out of a Backdoor screamer.

Charles Pass is through in second with a crazy backdoor bomb --- 9's all round for a deep tube and ends off with a roll.

Round 4: Heat 8 - High drama from Spex
Closer than SA's one run loss to India - with no decent waves under his belt and with the clock winding down, Spex tries to go left but is interfered so he turns right and is interfered on by a second rider. Still no scoring rides. With 3 mins left he gets a backdoor ride and boosts a good ARS and somehow finds another backdoor one and rolls it.
